Some students struggle with getting along with others.  Those "others" may be students, teachers, support staff or parents in the community.  When relationships are damaged by a student's actions it is essential that we initiate repair work.  Two friends who have a conflict are brought together to restore their friendship.  Student and teacher come together after a conflict to make plans for a fresh start.   Adults sometimes need to give the student the words to use to make things right.  Or, in some cases, the adult might need to speak for the child and model how to apologize.  Restorative practices can be helpful in these situations.
EXAMPLE
Play dates - students who have had a conflict on the yard are invited to come together for a few recesses and play away from the other students (with adult supervision).  This repairs the relationship and provides them both with a fresh start.
