Always be looking for an opportunity to turn misbehaviour into a teachable moment. Taking the time to look at mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow creates an atmosphere where students are willing and able to look at their behaviours, own their mistakes, and become willing participants in finding solutions. Teachable moments allow adults to lead the student toward a plan of action designed to correct the mistake, and prepare them for the next time a similar event occurs. We teach and they learn new ways of responding to the same problem.
